Dear MAGE Community,

This year marks a significant milestone for Maryland Applied Graduate Engineering (MAGE) as we celebrate three decades of excellence in graduate engineering education. Since our inception in 1994 with just seven programs, MAGE has evolved into a vibrant and dynamic community, united by a shared commitment to innovation, excellence, and impact. Guided by our mission to provide accessible, world-class graduate engineering education, we have made remarkable strides in empowering engineers to lead and innovate in an ever-changing global landscape.

Our achievements speak volumes. Ranked #6 in online graduate engineering programs by U.S. News & World Report, MAGE continues to be a national leader in providing high-quality, flexible education to working professionals. With 19 specialized graduate engineering programs, we offer unparalleled opportunities for students to deepen their expertise and drive advancements in fields that shape our world. This year, we proudly surpassed 5,000 alumni—an incredible network of leaders, innovators, and change-makers who embody the spirit of MAGE in their industries and communities.

As we reflect on our successes, we also look to the future. Recognizing the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence, we are actively exploring a graduate program dedicated to this rapidly evolving field. By equipping engineers with cutting-edge skills in AI, we aim to meet the growing demand for expertise in technologies that are reshaping industries and creating new frontiers of opportunity. This forward-looking initiative underscores our commitment to staying at the forefront of graduate engineering education and preparing our students to address the most pressing challenges of our time.

The numbers tell an inspiring story, but the heart of MAGE is its people. To our students, alumni, faculty, and staff—your dedication, curiosity, and achievements fuel our success and chart the course for the future. Together, we will continue to build on this strong foundation, leveraging the power of education to make a meaningful impact. Thank you for being an integral part of the MAGE community and for contributing to our legacy of excellence.

Sincerely,

Dr. George Syrmos Assistant Dean for Continuing Education A. James Clark School of Engineering University of Maryland
